Our Story
Project Indigo was born from a simple belief: creativity has the power to connect us, build confidence, and help us see the world differently.
As a lifelong Armonk resident and Byram Hills graduate, I always dreamed of creating something meaningful within the community that shaped me. After earning my BFA in Painting from SUNY Purchase and spending years working with children and families through art, I saw a need for a different kind of creative space—one where the focus wasn't on perfection, but on exploration, curiosity, and self-expression.
In a world that often moves quickly and values outcomes over experiences, I wanted to create a place where people could slow down, create with their hands, and reconnect with their imagination. A place where messy hands, bold ideas, creative risks, and artistic exploration are celebrated.
That vision became Project Indigo.
Today, Project Indigo is more than an art studio. It is a creative community serving artists of all ages—from toddlers discovering paint for the first time, to children developing confidence through creative exploration, to teens and adults seeking opportunities to learn, create, and connect.
Our approach is rooted in the belief that creativity belongs to everyone. Through classes, camps, workshops, exhibitions, special events, and community collaborations, we strive to provide meaningful artistic experiences that encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and self-expression.
While many know us for our children's programming, Project Indigo was always envisioned as a space for the broader creative community as well. We are passionate about creating opportunities for adults to reconnect with their creativity, explore new mediums, develop artistic skills, and engage with the arts in meaningful ways. Whether someone is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to a lifelong artistic practice, they have a place here.
Our foundation is built upon process-based art education, but we also value craftsmanship, artistic growth, and the rich traditions of the fine arts. We believe there is room for both playful exploration and technical skill-building, and we strive to create programming that honors both.
At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment where creativity can flourish. We believe art has the power to bring people together, strengthen communities, and enrich lives.
Building Project Indigo in the town where I grew up has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Watching children discover confidence, families create memories together, and artists of all ages find inspiration within our walls reminds me every day why this work matters.
